Digi SP’K: Troubleshooting
1. No sound
If you experience no sound, try the following:
- Change the batteries
- Check that you are using the correct type of battery (AA or LR6, 1.5V alkaline only)
- Check that the batteries have been inserted correctly
- Make sure the battery compartment is properly closed
- Press the button to turn on the processor
- Change the antenna cord
- Change the connection wire
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
2. Intermittent sound (micro-cuts)
If you experience intermittent sound, try the following:
- Change the batteries
- Check that you are using the correct type of battery (AA or LR6, 1.5V alkaline only)
- Make sure that the maintenance recommendations have been followed
- Check the microphone quality using the earphones
- Change the antenna cord
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
3. Reduced or distorted sound
If you experience reduced or distorted sound, try the following:
- Check that you are using the right programme
- Try another programme
- Change the batteries
- Check the microphone quality using the earphones
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
4. The light indicator does not come on
If the light indicator does not come on, try the following:
- Check that you are using the correct type of battery (AA or LR6, 1.5V alkaline only)
- Change the batteries
- Check that the batteries have been inserted correctly
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
5. The light indicator is red
If the light indicator is red, try the following:
- Change the batteries
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
6. My processor powers up but does not work — the LED light is on all the time
If this is the case, try the following:
- Open the battery compartment
- Remove the battery from the compartment
- Wait five minutes before putting the battery back in the compartment
- Press the button to turn on the processor
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
7. The antenna does not stay in place
If the antenna does not stay in place, try the following:
- Screw in the magnet by using a coin and turning it clockwise
- Make sure the polarity of your magnet is correct
- Order a stronger magnet from the sales department Note the strength and polarity indicated on the magnet
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
8. Battery life is insufficient
If battery life is insufficient, try the following:
- Change the batteries
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
9. The battery compartment does not close
If the battery compartment does not close, try the following:
- Check that you are using the correct type of battery (AA or LR6, 1.5V alkaline only)
- Ensure there is nothing obstructing the compartment, but never try to force the compartment shut
- Check that the battery contacts are not bent or deformed
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
10. I cannot connect my new antenna cord
If you cannot connect your new antenna cord, try the following:
- Check that the size of the connector is compatible
- Make sure that it is connected in the right direction
- Check that the pins are not bent
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
11. I cannot connect my new connection wire
If you cannot connect your new connection wire, try the following:
- Make sure it is connected in the right direction.
- Check that the pins are not bent
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
12. My processor got wet
If your processor has gotten wet, try the following:
- Open the battery compartment and remove the battery
- If the processor has been in sea or salt water, rinse it quickly in fresh water
- Dry the outside of your processor, the antenna and its lead using a kitchen towel
- Let the battery and sound processor dry for 24 hours before re-inserting the batteries back into the compartment
- Do not apply heat
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
13. My antenna cord is broken
If your antenna cord is broken, try the following:
- Find the second antenna cord supplied in your sound processor packaging
- You can also order a new cord from our sales department. Note that they are available in several lengths and colours.
14. I cannot hear with my telecoil
If you cannot hear with your telecoil, try the following:
- Check that you are on the programme specified for accessories
- If the problem persists, contact your implantation centre or your local Oticon Medical office or distributor.
