It is a minimally invasive procedure, which is why most people only need to stay in hospital for a day following surgery.

Getting the implant

Getting a cochlear implant requires surgery to insert the internal part of the cochlear implant system. The surgery is relatively simple, quick and minimally invasive which is why most people only need to stay in hospital for a day following surgery. Once healed, your audiologist can activate the sound processor, which allows you to hear.

Your doctor and audiologist can determine whether you are a candidate for a cochlear implant.
